I have been thinking recently of returning to the Greats to relook at what inspires me. Extremes of architectural design have a way of filtering down to how we really want to live in much the same way as high fashion. George Rennie Mackintosh, architect, artist and designer produced many pieces that although highly stylised could easily be scaled down for use every day, without over-theming a design. Take one of his chairs, for instance. A modern version of this chair would fit well into an understated monochrome room to add wow factor.
